Choc Nut Toffee Crunch Bars Recipe
Chocolate Toffee Cookie Crunch Bars:
Base:
2 c finely crushed vanilla wafers (about 50 wafers)
1/4 c firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 c butter melted
Preheat over to 350
Combine wafers crumbs and brown sugar
Stir in butter
Press into 13x9 baknig pan.
Bake at 350 for 8mins
Toffee Layer:
1/2c butter
1/2c firmly packed brown sugar
6oz pkg (1c) semi-sweet choc chips
1/2c finely chopped nuts
In saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar. Cook over moderate
heat, stirring constantly, until boiling. Boil for 1 minute.
Pour immediately over baked base.
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
Let stand 2 minutes
Sprinkle chips on top, let stand for 2-3 minutes
Spread evenly
Sprinkle with chopped nuts (I suggest pressing nuts into chocolate)
Cut into bars or break into irregular pieces.
Option: Based on my results making this, I think it might work better to
let the toffee layer chill after baking it, and then pouring melted chocolate
over the top instead. Otherwise, it tends to spread the toffee and mix it with
the chocolate.
